Border Ceremony at Wagah
Duration: 5 hrs including drive time
Introduction: Wagah is a key land border crossing between India and Pakistan. Every day, the lowering of the flags ceremony is conducted here by the Indian Border Security Force and the Pakistan Rangers. It is attended by hundreds of people each day - Indians, Pakistanis and foreigners.
Tour coverage: We will drive from Amritsar to Wagah (1hr) to witness the famous border ceremony. Both sides throw themselves into the ceremony at full throttle, with a great deal of theatrics, bluster and mock aggression. The crowds enjoy the dramatic performance and the festival-like atmosphere: patriotic songs, chants, hooting and cheering. But apart from this nationalist fervour, both sides coordinate closely with each other to pull off the ceremony flawlessly, with firm handshakes at the beginning and end. The entire ceremony is an intense, fascinating spectacle to witness.
